Estimator
Job Description:
Estimator – Modular Manufacturing
About the Opportunity
GOR Group is partnering with a leading client in the electrical construction and modular manufacturing space to hire an experienced Estimator for its Arlington, Texas operation.
This role is ideal for someone who does more than price drawings. The Estimator will review project documents, develop accurate and competitive estimates, work with vendors and manufacturers to identify cost savings, and help create a clear strategy to win profitable work.
You will work closely with Preconstruction, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, vendors, and customers to ensure estimates are complete, competitive, and executable.
What You'll Do
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and bid documents to fully understand project scope.
- Develop detailed estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, fabrication, vendor costs, and other project requirements.
- Identify missing information, scope gaps, risks, and unclear requirements before bids are submitted.
- Ask questions and clearly document assumptions, qualifications, inclusions, and exclusions.
- Validate costs rather than relying on assumptions or simply adding contingency.
- Work with vendors and manufacturers to identify competitive pricing, alternate sourcing, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop a strategy for each opportunity with the goal of winning the right work at the right price.
- Review estimates for accuracy and perform cross-checks against historical data, labor assumptions, and vendor pricing.
- Participate in peer reviews and estimate reviews when a second set of eyes is needed.
- Prepare professional proposals that demonstrate a strong understanding of the project and scope of work.
- Maintain accurate estimating and opportunity information in Accubid and Salesforce.
- Track bid results and understand why projects are won or lost.
- Seek feedback from Operations and Manufacturing to improve future estimates.
- Provide a clean turnover to Operations, including accurate Bills of Material, cost buckets, assumptions, vendor information, and project risks.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes, databases, and pricing methods.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of estimating experience within electrical construction, manufacturing, modular construction, prefabrication, or a related environment preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Experience developing detailed material and labor estimates
- Understanding of electrical materials, systems, equipment, and construction methods preferred
- Experience with Accubid or similar estimating software
- Familiarity with Bills of Material, cost coding, and project turnover
- Experience working with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify unusual costs, pricing gaps, and scope risks
- Experience with Salesforce or another CRM preferred
- Strong Excel and communication skills
- Data center, mission-critical, industrial, prefabrication, or modular construction experience is highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail, ownership, and willingness to challenge assumptions
What Success Looks Like
Successful estimators in this role produce accurate, competitive estimates, understand how the work will actually be manufactured and built, identify opportunities to reduce cost, and give Operations a clean estimate they can execute from.
This is not a bid-mill environment. The expectation is to understand the project, build a strategy, learn from wins and losses, and continuously improve the estimating process.
