Job Description:

Mechanical Engineer

Design the Future of Mission-Critical Infrastructure

GOR Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of innovative modular infrastructure and mission-critical facility solutions.

This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, developing creative solutions, and collaborating across multiple disciplines. The successful candidate will bring expertise in HVAC and mechanical system design, advanced 3D modeling capabilities, and the ability to support projects from concept through fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

Experience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial infrastructure, or modular construction projects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical System Design

  • Design and develop HVAC, cooling, mechanical piping, and thermal management systems for modular and mission-critical facilities.
  • Create and review detailed 3D models, equipment layouts, fabrication drawings, and construction documentation.
  • Develop practical engineering solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

Engineering Analysis

  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations including:

    • Equipment sizing
    • Heat-load calculations
    • Airflow analysis
    • Pressure-drop calculations
    • Hydronic system design
  • Evaluate system performance and support design optimization efforts.

Equipment Selection & Integration

  • Select and specify HVAC and mechanical equipment, including:

    • Air handling units (AHUs)
    • Chillers
    • Pumps
    • Heat exchangers
    • Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs)
    • Related mechanical system components
  • Coordinate equipment integration with multidisciplinary project teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, structural, controls, architectural, manufacturing, commissioning, and field installation teams.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and vendor documentation for technical accuracy and constructability.
  • Identify design conflicts, schedule risks, and constructability concerns early in the project lifecycle.

Project Execution & Field Support

  • Support fabrication, installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and field modifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Travel as required to support manufacturing facilities, project sites, commissioning activities, client meetings, and field coordination efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of eight years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with 3D design and modeling software.
  • Experience producing coordinated construction, fabrication, or installation-level design packages.
  • Strong understanding of:

    • Hydronic systems
    • Airflow analysis
    • Heat transfer principles
    • Equipment selection
    • Mechanical controls
  • Ability to independently manage technical assignments while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as project needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, or modular infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with:

    • High-density computing environments
    • Liquid cooling technologies
    • Rear-door heat exchangers
    • Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs)
    • Chilled-water systems
    • Central utility plants
  • Familiarity with CFD analysis, energy modeling, and cooling redundancy strategies.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, modular fabrication, commissioning, or field construction activities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Navisworks, or similar design platforms.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a practical, solutions-oriented engineer who can successfully move between conceptual design, detailed engineering, fabrication support, and field execution.

They are comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges, collaborating across disciplines, developing innovative solutions, and supporting projects through completion. This individual thrives in environments that value accountability, technical excellence, adaptability, and teamwork.
